As the name suggests, this organization helps to educate everyone- regardless of their sexual orientation. Therefor the rights of members of the LGBT community.
Because their target is K-12 schools, and they work to end homophobia at an early age. The issue becomes less of a problem in the future as children, grow up to be informed and respectful of the rights of LGBT individuals.
The Human Rights Campaign
The Human Rights Campaign is the most significant advocate organization for LGBT people in the country. They envision a nation where members of the LGBT community will be able to live with their equal fundamental rights.
Where they can work and live comfortably without any discrimination. The organization currently has close to 600,000 members. All of who are committed to ensuring an equal and discrimination-free world.
Transgender Law Center
The Transgender Law Center helps to change policies, laws, and general attitudes. So that people of the LGBT community can live comfortably, safely, and free from any discrimination.
The organization is built on the vision of a country where people can be their authentic selves and determine their own genders.
Parents, Family & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
This is a national non-profit grassroots organization that helps to promote the wellbeing of gay and lesbian people. As well as their friends and families.
To do this, they engage in advocacy and education programs. While also helping to enlighten members of the LGBT community on their rights.
Project Open mind, an online information portal, helps to provide statistics on teen suicides and hate crimes against LGBT people. The site also provides a comprehensive directory of states where branches of the organization are.
So far, the organization has proven to be a very useful resource for parents whose children are dealing with challenges. As they come out in their schools and workplaces. It currently has more than 250,000 members, with about 500 chapters across the United States.
interACT (formerly the Advocates for Informed Choice)
interACT makes use of revolutionary and innovative technology. To help push the advocacy for the human and legal rights of children who are born with intersex traits.
Their work is built on the tenet of respecting the parents, children, doctors, and affiliates of intersex adults. And they help ensure that these people can freely choose who they want to be.
