Women have a higher susceptibility to STDs

Indeed, it’s true. Women are more prone to having STDs than men, and it’s all because of the differences in our anatomy. Apparently, it’s easier for women to get STDs from men, than it is to go the other way around.

In addition to that, women will find that it is more dangerous to leave STDs untreated than men. For instance, chlamydia can spread to the fallopian tubes and uterus if left untreated and can cause pelvic inflammatory ailment that will lead to infertility and sustained pain in the Pelvic region. On the other hand, men have a lesser likelihood of getting long-term health issues even if they don’t treat chlamydia for a while.

Women cold also cause STDs by passing them to their unborn children when pregnant. Syphilis can pass to a child from his mother, and women who have herpes can pass it down to their children as well.

It’s worth noting that both of these issues could be deadly, especially when children are concerned.

So, while it’s tempting to only get tested for the most popular STDs, make sure to speak with your doctor concerning tests for some of the ones that aren’t so popular as well. A lot of these less prevalent STDs are just as deadly as the more popular ones, and if you want to be safe, make sure you’re fine across the board.
