Psychological Benefits

There are various emotional and mental benefits of making love that is linked with the overall quality of life.

Some of these benefits include:

Happiness: it has been proved from research that more sex and better quality sex increases satisfaction although unwanted sex lowers happiness.

Relieves Stress: these days, many people are dealing with chronic stress, and this has been cited as a reason why adults are having less sex. Nevertheless, sex is considered a stress management technique. Our bodies secrete cortical and adrenaline as part of the stress response. These hormones can cause fatigue, high blood pressure, and much more. Sex can lessen the level of these hormones, with effects that can last well into the next day.

Improved Mood: There are several chemicals our bodies release during sex that can affect the way we feel. During sex, our brains release endorphins that are “feel good” chemicals that can lessen irritability and feelings of depression. Another hormone, oxytocin, is also released with nipple stimulation and other sexual activity. That can aid in sleep.

Physical Benefits

It’s reasonably perceptive that sex would perk up emotional health, but there are several tangible benefits as well.

Some of these include:

Improved Physical Fitness: Sex is a type of physical exercise, and several studies link practice with better health. Various researches have been shown that sexual activity is equal to moderate physical activities such as walking briskly or climbing two flights of stairs. The movements associated with sex can tauten and tone abdominal and pelvic muscles.

Cardiac Effects: Sexual activity excluding masturbation has been linked with lower systolic blood pressure. High blood pressure, in turn, is linked with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and more. It is considered that sexual activity can help to dilate blood vessels, raising the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body while dropping blood pressure.

In other words, like other forms of physical activity such as running, the unusual activity could hurt the blood flow to the arteries supplying the heart, but regular exercise may be protective.

Relationship Benefits: Having sex often can benefit you and your partner individually. Still, it can also help your relationship in many ways. Having regular sex can increase your level of commitment and help you connect emotionally. Couples are more likely to stay together when they can express their love in this way, and the divorce rate is considerably higher for couples who don’t.

The relational advantages of sex are supported by the chemicals that are made by our bodies: The release of oxytocin, in addition to being calming, can put into bonding and greater emotional intimacy.

Better Immune Function: Being sexually active also poses positive effects on immune function. Not only this, but it also lowers the chances of getting a cold or the flu.

Sexual Effects: Being more sexually active, actually boosts libido and increases vaginal lubrication in women. Making love is more often associated with lighter menstrual periods and less inconvenient period cramps. For men, while it was once thought that sex caused an increase in prostate cancer, a study carried out in 2018 found that men who had more ejaculations were less likely to develop the disease than men who had fewer.

Other Physical Effects: A number of different physical effects have been linked with regular sexual activity, such as an improved sense of smell, healthier teeth, improved digestion, and that healthy-skin glow that is related to an increase in the release of DHEA by the body.

Brain Effects: In the past, studies in rats found that intercourse is correlated both with better cognitive function and the growth of new brain cells. Researchers are now learning that the same may be true in humans. A study published in 2018 revealed that over 6,000 adults that are having sex more often were associated with better memory performance in adults ages 50 and older.

Challenges

We are anxious from birth to desire the intimacy of sex, and lacking sex is one of the things that can lead people in a relationship to grow far-away and, perhaps, look elsewhere. It is essential to note down that active sex life is sometimes difficult or impossible because of physical or psychological conditions. Couples can uphold a robust and healthy relationship in spite of this, and looking at non-sexual ways to perk up intimacy is helpful even for those who cannot have sex regularly.

The frequency of sex can change over time, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a gradual downhill slide. If you are wondering if sex can ever be as good as when you were first frantically in love, the answer is yes. It can even be better when you add in what you did not have before: a stable, loving relationship that’s grown mature and intimate.

All in all, there are clearly many benefits of having sex regularly in a loving and supportive relationship.

That said everything is not lost in your relationship if you are unable to have sex this frequently or at all. Your love can grow just as strong. If you can have sex but not adequate, ask yourself why.

Sometimes meet a sex therapist may be the best way to work through any issues you are having. Remember that it could make a difference not just for your relationship, but for your own physical and emotional health as well.
